Build Your Career With Us
Total compensation in the top 10%. Benefits on Day 1 with no tiers. Profit and margin sharing at every level — and for Master-licensed leaders, the chance to build and lead a trade division as a W-2 employee. We offer cash profit sharing, not equity.
Why Work at O’Toole Construction
We invest in our people because better-treated crews deliver better work.
Top 10% Total Compensation
We benchmark against live local job postings, not what competitors claim. Base pay sits in the top quartile — add quarterly margin sharing, profit sharing, and Day 1 benefits and the total package reaches the top 10% for every role.
Day 1 Benefits — No Tiers
Health, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability start your very first day. Every employee, helper to Master, gets the same package.
401(k) After 90 Days
Employer-supported retirement kicks in at 90 days, with profit-sharing contributions in strong years as the company matures.
Profit & Margin Sharing
Crew Leads share 10% of their crew's collected, adjusted gross margin and Division Directors share 5% of the division's; crew members share ~1.5% of their crew's margin too. Develop a member into their own Crew Lead and you earn a royalty for it. Quality and safety gates reward doing it right, not just fast.
Manage Your P&L
Crew Leads and Division Directors manage a dedicated profit and loss with uncapped cash profit-sharing potential, backed by O’Toole's systems, benefits, and steady backlog. No employee equity or ownership interest is offered.
Quarterly Incentive Payments
Seventy-five percent of earned gross-margin sharing is paid quarterly. Twenty-five percent is held for the annual collections, warranty, and callback true-up.
Company Truck, Tools & PPE
Trade Leads and Division Directors get a company truck, phone, and tools. Every crew gets quality tools and PPE so they can do their best work safely.
Skills-Based Wage Ladder
Transparent pay tiers with defined competencies. Raises happen at promotions — earned by getting better — not just by sticking around another year.
Lead a Trade Division
We're seeking Master-licensed Qualified Individuals (QIs) to launch and lead our HVAC and Electrical divisions.
Virginia licenses the business through a designated Qualified Individual. For our licensed specialties, the Trade Lead is both the field leader and the regulatory key — and we structure the role so that the Masters who lead a division run a real P&L and share in the margin they create.
Manage a Real P&L
Crew Leads manage a semi-autonomous crew with a dedicated profit and loss. Division Directors manage the entire division's performance. These are W-2 employee leadership roles with cash profit sharing, not equity or legal ownership.
Share the Margin
10% of your crew's collected, adjusted gross margin as a Crew Lead (your crew shares in it too), or 5% of the division's as a Director — subject to quality, safety, collections, cash-reserve, and company-profit gates so craftsmanship and healthy growth both pay.
Bring Your Crew
Have journeymen or apprentices you trust? Bring them. We want Masters who build teams, and we'll bring your people on alongside you.
Leadership upside without the back-office burden
Most great tradesmen who go out on their own don't fail at the craft — they drown in everything around it. We take that off your plate so you can lead the work and share in the margin you create.
Business Development & Lead Generation
We market the company, build the builder and GC relationships, and keep a sales pipeline full — so your crew stays booked instead of you chasing the next job.
Workers' Comp & Liability Insurance
We carry and manage workers' compensation, general liability, and bonding. No premiums to chase, no renewals to track, and no personal exposure when something goes wrong.
Bookkeeping, Payroll & Taxes
Invoicing, collections, payroll, payroll taxes, and quarterly filings are handled for you. You get a steady paycheck plus your margin share — not a shoebox of receipts at tax time.
Scheduling, Permits & Logistics
Materials, permits, inspections, and the calendar are coordinated so your crew shows up to a job that's staged and ready to build.
Customer Service & Bookings
We answer the phones, schedule estimates, manage the customer relationship, and handle any disputes — you focus on quality, not collections calls.
Tools, Truck & Equipment
Company truck, phone, and tools are provided. No capital tied up in a fleet, a shop, or equipment you'd only use twice a year.
Steady Backlog & Stable Pay
Backlog-gated growth means consistent W-2 hours and predictable income — none of the feast-or-famine that comes with running solo.
